ResNet

Conceived in 1992, ResNet is an international organization providing a forum for discussion, collaboration, and development for IT professionals in higher education. Students, faculty, staff, and vendors participate in ResNet both through the ResNet Listserv and by attending the annual Student Technology Conference. Western Carolina University

WCU is located in the beautiful Cullowhee Valley of the southern Appalachian mountains. WCU was founded in 1889 to bring higher education and career opportunities to the western region of North Carolina. A member of the University of North Carolina system, WCU now provides an education to more than 10,000 students from 48 states and 35 countries.

Cullowhee/Sylva and Surrounding Area

With a combined population of 12,031 Cullowhee/Sylva is nestled among the Great Smoky Mountains, and features a nice balance between peaceful forests and vibrant downtowns. The area is full of opportunities to hike, raft, fish, zip-line and sight-see. Within minutes one can visit the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Appalachian Trail, or be standing beneath one of the many surrounding waterfalls. The Cherokee Reservation is a short 30 minute drive from campus and is home to various historical sights, cultural shops, and Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. The University is also situated conveniently between Asheville, NC (1 hour) and Gatlinburg, TN (1.5 hours). Each location contains an abundance of shopping, theme parks, nightlife, and various other entertainment venues. Notable attractions include The Biltmore Estate and Dollywood.
