Attendee Resources

Here are a few tips to help you pack and plan for a fantastic time at the 2019 ResNet Student Technology Conference at Washington University in St. Louis!

  1. Daytime high temperatures in St. Louis are typically around 86 degrees in June, with about 70% humidity, so please plan accordingly. Average low temperatures are around 67 degrees. The buildings we are using for the conference, including the residence hall, will be air conditioned.
    • Stay hydrated (bring a water bottle)
    • Sunscreen (especially if you do the Challenge Course)
    • Aloe (especially if you do the Challenge Course)
  2. ResNet STC is a conference where attendees dress casually.
  3. For the closing event, please plan on wearing comfortable clothing suitable for riding large slides, crawling around in cave-like structures, and climbing horizontal and vertical monkey bars. Jeans and sneakers are appropriate for this venue.
  4. For the opening event, please plan to wear a shirt representing your institution.
  5. Join the Slack channel and join in the discussions happening outside the sessions! #stc2019-wustl
  6. You may also find it worthwhile to bring business cards with you to share with the people you meet throughout the conference.
  7. If you are staying on campus at the South 40 House, the provided linen package consists of two bed sheets, one pillow, one pillowcase, one light summer blanket, two bath towels, two washcloths, and two soaps per guest. The extra-large twin mattresses in South 40 House are made by Tempurpedic.
  8. The Silent Auction benefits the Senti-Merriman Award, which sponsors the attendance of up to two student staff members at the ResNet STC each year. Bring something from your home area to help support this purpose – popular auction items include chocolate, maple syrup, items with college/university logos, homemade items (jewelry, pottery, etc.), and technological artifacts.
  9. Remember to bring a T-shirt from your ResNet/Institution to participate in the T-Shirt Exhange! You bring a shirt of the appropriate size and leave with one of the same size from another college.
  10. If you’re not already a part of the ResNet-L e-mail discussions, visit https://groups.google.com/a/resnetinc.org/forum/#!forum/stc and subscribe!
